Christian families in India — from Kerala and Goa to the North-East and the big cities — often use a biodata for arranged or "proposed" marriages, especially within the same denomination. A few church-related details help families decide quickly.
The top line
Many Christian biodatas carry a cross and a short verse or blessing, such as "God's blessings" or a line from a favourite Bible passage. In the biodata maker, choose the Cross symbol; you can change the top line to your own words.
Fields that matter in Christian families
| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| Religion | Christian |
| Denomination | Roman Catholic / Syro-Malabar / Orthodox / Marthoma / CSI / CNI / Pentecostal |
| Parish / church | St. Mary's Church, Kottayam |
| Diocese | Diocese of Kottayam (if your church uses one) |
| Church involvement | Choir member; Sunday school teacher |
| Family church | The family's home parish, if different from where you live |
The denomination drop-down isn't fixed in the maker — write it in the Religion field with "✎ Write my own", or add a custom field "Denomination" or "Parish".
Faith in one honest line
"Active member of the parish youth group; sings in the Sunday choir."
"Regular at Sunday Mass with family; values faith and service."
Family and career
Parents' names and work, siblings with marital status, native place (for example, a home town in Kerala even if the family lives in Bengaluru), education and occupation. Add work timing and openness to relocation; many Christian professionals work in healthcare and abroad.
Partner expectations
"Looking for a God-fearing, educated Catholic partner from a good family."
"Same denomination preferred; character and values matter most."
Before the wedding
Requirements vary by church. Many parishes ask for a baptism certificate, a letter from the parish priest and a pre-marriage course. Check with your parish early so there are no last-minute surprises.
Language
Families may prefer Malayalam, Tamil, Konkani, English or Hindi. The maker creates the same biodata in 23 languages. See the Christian biodata format.
