The perfect marriage biodata: a 25-point checklist (2026)

A 25-point checklist for a marriage biodata that gets replies — photo, order of sections, what to write in each field, what to leave out, design and how to share it.

A good marriage biodata does one job: it lets another family understand you in under a minute and trust what they read. Use this checklist before you send yours anywhere. Each point takes seconds to check and most take minutes to fix.

Photo (4 points)

  1. Taken in the last six months.
  2. Daylight or soft indoor light; face clearly visible.
  3. Shoulders-up framing for the biodata; full-length kept separately.
  4. No sunglasses, heavy filters, or crops from group photos. More in biodata photo tips.

Layout (4 points)

  1. One A4 page.
  2. Sections in the order families expect: personal, horoscope, education and career, family, contact, expectations, about me.
  3. Readable on a phone — no tiny text, no busy background.
  4. One clean design; a single religious symbol if your family prefers. See 110 designs.

Personal details (5 points)

  1. Real date of birth (age is calculated from it).
  2. Measured height in feet-inches and centimetres — use the height converter.
  3. Marital status stated plainly, including divorced or widowed where relevant.
  4. Religion, community and mother tongue as your family normally writes them.
  5. Diet, and — only if you want — smoking and drinking (No / Occasionally / Yes). These are hidden by default in our maker; turn them on if they matter to you.

Career (4 points)

  1. Highest degree and institution.
  2. Role, organisation and city ("Senior Analyst, HDFC Bank, Mumbai").
  3. Work timing — day shift, night shift, rotational, work from home, hybrid or own business. Unusual hours are better shared upfront. Read job and work timing in a biodata.
  4. Open to relocate: Yes, No or Open to discuss.

Family (3 points)

  1. Parents' names and occupations.
  2. Siblings with marital status ("Elder brother — married, Engineer, Bengaluru").
  3. Family type (joint or nuclear) and native place. Details in family details in a biodata.

Words (3 points)

  1. "About me" in three or four lines with one specific, true detail — 60 examples.
  2. Partner expectations in two to four warm lines — 40 examples.
  3. Spelling checked by someone else.

Contact and sharing (2 points)

  1. A working phone number with WhatsApp, usually a parent's.
  2. Files ready: PDF for printing, JPG for WhatsApp, and a 9:16 picture for Status.

Questions

What is the right length for a marriage biodata?

One page. If it overflows, hide less important fields instead of shrinking the font.

Should the biodata be in English or my language?

Make both if possible. Elders often read their mother tongue more comfortably; English helps wider circles. The same details can produce both versions.

Is a biodata without a photo acceptable?

It is acceptable, but responses drop sharply. If privacy is a concern, send the version with the photo only to trusted families.
